Kendre Miller scored 0.09 points in Week 4. I checked it twice, because it looks like an error. It’s the real number, and it came from the only running back Craig started, while MarShawn Lloyd sat on Ramrod’s bench with 4.15.
Start Lloyd and Ramrod wins, 147.43 to 147.04. Craig started Miller. Final score: Flaming Chankla Chuckers 147.04, Ramrod Red Devils 143.37, the closest game in 22 meetings between these two and Ramrod’s first loss of the season. Knowing Craig, he’ll take it well. I wouldn’t.
The $155 Running Back
Gene spent $155 on waivers for Ollie Gordon. Gordon scored 19.50. Add Jonathan Taylor’s 18.78 and Omarion Hampton’s 10.33, and the Chankla Chuckers’ backfield put up 48.61. Ramrod’s backfield put up 0.09.
Take Gordon out and start Jaylen Wright, who scored 5.31 on the bench, and the Chankla Chuckers finish at 132.85. They lose by 10.52. The gap between Gordon and Wright was 14.19 points, almost four times the final margin.
So far that’s $7.95 a point. For a win over Ramrod, I’d call it a bargain.
Fifteen and Seven
Ramrod leads this series 15-7 and has outscored the Chankla Chuckers 2,989.60 to 2,797.16 all-time. It started as a coin flip. From 2009 to 2011, they traded wins six straight times.
Then Ramrod went 11-1 from 2012 to 2021. That run includes the only playoff meeting between these two, a 125.63 to 111.59 Ramrod win in Week 15 of 2012, plus eight straight Ramrod wins from 2014 to 2021. I’d compare it to the Roman Empire, but the Romans lost a battle every so often. (Fine, the Romans also lasted longer than eight games.) The worst of it came in Week 11 of 2016, a 174.92 to 96.64 beating whose 78.28-point margin is still the biggest in the series.
Last season changed the tone. The Chankla Chuckers won Week 2, 204.15 to 157.18, the highest score either team has ever posted in this matchup. Then they won Week 11, 154.46 to 85.82, by 68.64. Before 2025 they had never beaten Ramrod twice in a row. Now it’s three straight.
Three games is a small sample, and two of them came during the Chankla Chuckers’ 3,008.03-point season, the fifth-highest total in league history. That team beat plenty of people besides Craig. Ramrod has to drop a few more of these before anyone gets to call it a new era.
The Kids’ Menu
Ramrod is 4-1 and leads Beast Quake. Ramrod is also 7th in the league in points, with 548.29. The Chankla Chuckers are 2-3 with 572.16. I keep looking at those numbers and getting more annoyed.
Look at the four teams Ramrod beat. Jeepsters, 111.76. Fast Eddys Chili, 109.54. Speed Inc, 92.75. Grindhouse Zombies, 130.44. Those four averaged 111.12 against Ramrod. The league average in Week 4 alone was 132.98. Craig has spent a month ordering off the kids’ menu and bragging about cleaning his plate.
Speed Inc is 0-5 and averages 79.0 points a week. That win goes in the standings the same as a win over Dark Phoenix would.
Add this week and Ramrod’s opponents have averaged 118.31 points a game. As a team scoring average, that would rank 13th in the league, just behind the SilverBacks. The Chankla Chuckers’ opponents have averaged 144.61, which would rank 5th, right around G.A.M.E.
Swap the first three weeks of schedules and the records flip. On the Chankla Chuckers’ schedule, Ramrod goes 2-2. It beats Jack Passers and Hitmen, then loses to Dark Phoenix and to the Drunken Badgers, the second one by 1.42. On Ramrod’s schedule, the Chankla Chuckers go 3-1, and their only loss is to Grindhouse.
The 4-1 counts. Nobody’s taking it away. But a 7th-place offense sitting on top of a division is a schedule story, and the schedule just got harder. Ramrod plays G.A.M.E. in Week 5, and G.A.M.E. is 4-1, averaging 146.3 a week.
Ramrod still leads the series 15-7. It would be 16-6 if Craig had started Lloyd over the 0.09.
